The Registration Letter is Here!! Today we received the first of two letters needed to get our date to travel to Ukraine. We are so excited and relieved I can hardly put my feelings into words. I received a voicemail from John when I was at work today. When I heard his voice saying "we have something here from Ukraine" I was overcome with emotions and have to admit dropped a few tears of relief and joy. Anyway, I took a long lunch to come home because I had to see this thing for myself.
This is a very important letter because it means that Ukraine has approved our paperwork and that we are recognized as canidates for adoption. If there had been a mistake in paperwork it could have added months onto our process. We now have a registration number with the National Adoption Center in Ukraine and they asked us to inform them in writing of a date request in 2006. We of course are going to ask for Janruary and if we're very lucky we may get to travel in Jan or Feb.
The next letter we will receive (hopefully) will actually have our official appointment date. This is the date that we will be able to meet with NAC staff and choose our child ( referral) from binders of available children. We will then travel to meet this child and decide if we will proceed with the adoption.
So we're one step closer. There are many changes being made in Ukraine right now and it's making it very hard for adoptive families that are in the country right now. Please pray for the leaders of Ukraine and help this young country work through their growing pains. Pray that these changes will be implemented quickly and it will be easier for the orphaned children of Ukraine to find their forever families.
Love,
Janine & John
